Bread Making Course
This is one of our most popular courses. Homemade bread is the best! This one day, fun, beginners course to explore the various techniques used to master delicious bread. We will take you through every step of the process explaining what to look out for at each stage.
On the day we will make a Large white bloomer, a wholemeal tin loaf, a multi seed Cob and you will be given to option to make a few bread rolls if you’re feeling confident to try them.
Flavoured Breads is only slightly more advance, we learn all the basic methods as well as introducing flavours such as nuts, fruit and seeds to the breads
Course Layout
9:45am – 5.30pm
Meet Garry and Matt in the Cafe for a coffee and a welcome chat
Head to bakery and get setup at a work station
Talk 1: The Basics – We will talk about essential equipment, flour & protein content, dough development & yeast.
Practical 1: Weight out and mix the ingredients to create the doughs
Demo 1: We will show you our technique for developing the gluten in the dough.
Practical 2: Folding and turning the doughs over the course of the morning.
Lunch in the Cafe – Lunch and refreshments will be provided by us
Practical 3: Bench Resting and shaping the doughs
Talk 2: Proving, scoring dough and baking tips
Practical 4: Scoring the dough and baking
